We wanted to show there was another way to build and lead businesses. So Hospitality Mavericks was born. We wanted to gather together the worldโs Mavericks who do things differently from the norm. They are leaders from all walks of life who have shown and proven that there is a better way forward without cashing out on their values; ripping off their people, community and planet. That was over ten years ago. Since then we've worked with and interviewed more than 200 leaders, thinkers and experts on the best way to build a business that makes a positive impact on all stakeholders. We are the home to impactful leaders that KNOW and DO things in a better way. A network for those seeking a different path. So donโt just be like the others! Dare to Be Different โ
For decades I've been obsessed with time - sometimes too much, to the point where I forgot to live life and be in the now. So I really enjoyed this conversation with Jacob Dahl which really helped me to get a a much better understanding of time and how I can get a more positive relationship with it.
Jacob shares with us his learnings on time from writing his book โIn Search of Time: Understanding the Nature and Experience of Time for a Better Lifeโ.
Join and improve your relationship with time.

Hospitality & The Infinite GameFrom following the podcast and reading this newsletter, I am sure you have noticed that a central theme of these is my strong belief that we live in a short-term world with long-term problems. โ To remind us how we can shift this focus in hospitality businesses and make some incredible impact, I wanted to bring back this conversation I had some years a go with my friend David Chenery co-founder of Object Space Place. โ This episode was inspired by Simon Sinekโs book โThe Infinite Gameโ, and what happens when we switch to a longer-term thinking mindset. โ We reflect over the casual dining crash, other bad choices made through short-term thinking and what we can learn from impactful brands like Patagonia. โ As business leaders itโs our duty to think big to better understand and impact the system. โ

Here, they discuss how to find joy and happiness during troubled times. At some point in the interview, they discuss the need to care for yourself without hurting others. They state that you must take care of yourself, or you can not survive or be helpful to others. But caring for oneself should not hurt others. The Daila Lama brings up...
The Power of Positive Energy.None of us can expect to get through life and work without obstacles. Life and work do not always go our way.But that does not mean you canโt navigate it better. You need more POSITIVE ENERGY.In my work observing what Maverick leaders KNOW and DO, I have found that they see positive energy as THE fuel for driving themselves and their organisation to greatness. When I talk about positive energy, I do not think about the rah-rah kind. I think about:- Optimism.-...
